Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was discovering a piano in her loft, and becoming amazed by the music. Jan Oystein Aksnes, her parents, May Britt Aksnes, and Jan Oystein Aksnes, encouraged their daughter to pursue music for a love rather as a career. To achieve this she wrote her first new compositions. She has cited renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan as influences as well as a love for Bjork's style. She began performing her songs publicly when her mother suggested that they might help others not gain acclaim for her work but to make those around them see the importance of their work and how they could impact the world. She began playing the piano when she was six years old and started making music when she was 9 years old. The fact that she was a musician wasn't known to her family members until she reached the age of fourteen. Aurora wasn't a dream. She just loves to write songs. According to her, the songs she creates are her way of feeling any thing.
